Understanding Commercial Complexity Index: Definition and Commercial Context

A proposed assessment measure for the coordination demands of a commercial environment; dimensions and scoring require validation.

Within Boderia's developing Commercial Architecture body of knowledge, this term helps describe how commercial capabilities can be designed, connected, assessed or governed. Its definition should remain consistent with the controlled vocabulary and any formally released standards.

For example, an organisation reviewing commercial complexity index should identify the responsible roles, the relevant processes and information, the decisions being made, and the evidence used to judge whether the arrangement works as intended.

Commercial Architecture examines strategy, people, process, technology, data and governance together. Commercial Complexity Index should be considered in the context of those interdependencies and the revenue-system capabilities it influences. Governance of one capability alone does not establish that an organisation has a fully Governed Revenue System.

This is a proposed or developing Boderia concept, not a claim that an independently recognised industry standard already exists.
